The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (F.Y.R.O.M.) is in Southeastern Europe, north of Greece. With a total of 766 km land boundaries, Macedonia shares borders with Albania (151 km), Bulgaria (148 km), Greece (246 km) and Yugoslavia (221 km). Macedonias territory is mountainous, covered with deep basins and valleys. There are three large lakes, each divided by a frontier line. The country bisected by the Vardar River.
