Dear Sherri,

I think the "Recommendations by the Quality Task Group - [18] Bowie Dick Test" can help you further. You find them on our Education pages. Two remarks:

  1. Also EN 554: Validation and routine control of sterilization by moist heat says in 6.3.4.: "If the sterilization process includes air removal from the product, a steam penetration test shall be carried out at the commencement of each day the sterilizer is to be used."
  2. The length of record keeping depends on national regulations and varies a lot from country to country. E.g. in Belgium this period is only 1 year for the documentation of the sterilization processes.
