Subject: Sterilization of gauze rolls

Hello,

We are experiencing problems sterilizing gauze in a steam sterilizer as they are always coming out of the autoclave yellowish.
The autoclave was inspected and no indication of superheated steam was shown, the water used for sterilization is RO water and we have been buying the gauze from the same source for 10 years.

What could the reaon be for such a result?

Thanks.

Natali

Hallo Natali

Assuming that over-temperature is not the reason (Is the system calibrated?) the reason is the steam quality.

  1. Was the operating pressure of the steam boiler reduced?
  2. Is the steam dry? no! because the moisture carries the source of yellowish stains.
  3. Are the NCG (Non Condensable Gases) airated?
  4. Is the Steam Boiler made of Carbon steel or Stainless steel?
  5. Piping and fittings. What material are they made of? Cast Steel, Bronze, Brass, Carbon steel, St.st?
  6. Is the Device equipped with separator? What material?

best regards
miki
