Subject: Bowie Dick Test for Steam Sterilizer

As per Albert Browne Bowie Dick test pack for 121 degree temperature the holding time is 8 to 8.3 min and at 131 it is upto 3.5 min. The test pack is with Kitemark. Thst means it is specificaly made for that purpose. And it meets the standards. Then how in HTM2010 says the time required is 16.8 to 17 minutes. I am totaly confused on the timings. Please help to clear my doubts...

Thanks

Hi

Dont be confused. Follow Albert Browne's instructions.
R & D is done by research labs and institutes as well as by manufacturers.
A manufacturer that is Certified, Authorised, Accrediated, Listed, Notified etc. is a responsible organisation.
Rules, Regulations, Standards, Directives, Codes or Technical Memorendums are reviewed and revised every several years. The HTM 2010 was issued more than couple of years ago.
Technology develops fast. Manufacturers rush fast too.
Standards are defined as "minimum requirements". The manufacturer knows better than the committee what is really required
